HALF OF MY LIFE

HALF OF MY LIFE

A Poem by Marc Marlon Villaflor
"

There will be no tears in heaven.

"

It was a gloomy morning--the sun covered by grey clouds

Rolling thunder echoes with the sound so loud.

Rain started to pour, I looked at the window;

Everything is depressing, I turn my back, I couldn't look at you

As you are there, lying in your bed chasing your breath.

It makes my body numb, stuck and I can’t move my feet.

Every time I look at you, it’s tearing my heart

I can’t accept the reality and I don’t know where to start,

Every time you call my name, it seems it is your last,

I can feel your heart slowing breaking like a fragile glass.

Now for the last time, I want to hold you,

I want to comfort you to end this sorrow.

If only I can give you half of my life

I will do it to extend your years, my loving wife.

My tears, your tears will fall, but remember me when you go,

Tomorrow I’ll face the world alone with this sorrow.

Half of my life will be with you; I promise we will see each other again

My loving wife, remember: there will be no tears in heaven.

I just want to reflect how my Father loves my Mother. My Mom died when I was small, she battles cancer all her life and it is hard for us to accept the reality especially my Father.

When we lose someone close to us only we know how it feels, how we wish we would have given every single breath of ours to them, how we wish that it would have us instead of them.....you poured down every emotion in this white of yours..A really nice write Marc.

Touching and sad, yet filled with hope and the comforting faith to know it is true even as you read it--it really tugs at my heart too.

Wow, this is really touching. I'm really sorry for your loss, I know what it's like to lose a parent.

''There will be no tears in heaven.'' - I'm an atheist, but THAT is beautiful. THIS is beautiful. Nicely written.

Hi DarkrRainbowPie thanks for your time reading my work, I really appreciate your words.
Tears burn their way into my eyes as I read the gut wrenching piece that you have so honestly and sadly penned here. We are never the same, and it never goes away, we just learn how to continue to live with this inside of us.
Deeply, profoundly agonizing.

Thanks again Ron,
the first stanza has effectively set a gloomy and foreboding scene. the succeeding lines- heartbreaking. The pain of losing someone we love is truly indescribably painful. Very touching and sad write kabayan.

'our tears will not reach in heaven' - not sure what you mean by 'reach.' Not sure if this is genuine or imagined.

At the risk of highjacking Marc's thread, yes I was a teacher for 30 years.
This is heart-breaking... so passionate and strong. More than anything I loved it, it's beautiful. The music goes very well with the piece.
