HALF OF MY LIFE

HALF OF MY LIFE

A Poem by Marc Marlon Villaflor
"

There will be no tears in heaven.

"

It was a gloomy morning--the sun covered by grey clouds

Rolling thunder echoes with the sound so loud.

Rain started to pour, I looked at the window;

Everything is depressing, I turn my back, I couldn't look at you

As you are there, lying in your bed chasing your breath.

It makes my body numb, stuck and I can’t move my feet.

Every time I look at you, it’s tearing my heart

I can’t accept the reality and I don’t know where to start,

Every time you call my name, it seems it is your last,

I can feel your heart slowing breaking like a fragile glass.

Now for the last time, I want to hold you,

I want to comfort you to end this sorrow.

If only I can give you half of my life

I will do it to extend your years, my loving wife.

My tears, your tears will fall, but remember me when you go,

Tomorrow I’ll face the world alone with this sorrow.

Half of my life will be with you; I promise we will see each other again

My loving wife, remember: there will be no tears in heaven.

I just want to reflect how my Father loves my Mother. My Mom died when I was small, she battles cancer all her life and it is hard for us to accept the reality especially my Father.

When we lose someone close to us only we know how it feels, how we wish we would have given every single breath of ours to them, how we wish that it would have us instead of them.....you poured down every emotion in this white of yours..A really nice write Marc.

This is a beautiful and heartbreaking poem.
I lost my grandpa to cancer 7 years ago. He raised me so I was very close to him. I understand your sorrow and wish you strength to make your mother proud.

A very sad poem. To lose a mother or wife would be a hard to understand. Especially if the person was young. Thank you for sharing the amazing poem. We must remember the people who touched our life.

Such a sweetly sad tribute to you fathers pain...and yours. The risk of loving is always loss. The joy of loving hopefully makes it worth the pain. Great work here Marc!

Thanks Stella, I appreciate your precious time reading the story of my mother.
My family too knew this battle. Although it was my father. Unfortunately, I was not young, I remember every grim detail....so naturally, I can respect exactly where you are coming from. Death is not an easy topic. It must have been tough to write this piece. You did a wonderful job honoring both of your parents. Plenty of emotion. Well done.
