The Rage Against Poseidon (RAGE TANKA)

The Rage Against Poseidon (RAGE TANKA)

A Poem by Marc Marlon Villaflor
"

We can't judge right away unless we know the backstory.

Her lips hex venom

Diabolic mind paints gore

Gives  horrific death

Crawling in the underworld

Rage is inexorable

Author's Note

Marc Marlon Villaflor

I wrote this poem to give voice for Medusa one of the character in Greek mythology. I have this thought to give voice for her rage after Poseidon rape her and Athena turned her into a monster. I think she deserved a voice.

There is a based mythological aspect to this, (brought in though the title specifically, and then later on with use of "the underworld") that the captures imagination, and brings colour and visualisation to the fury and torment you portray. This said a lot, brought little - well done

Ok, fine, if you like mythology and stuff but make it apply to your life.
The form and brevity of your poem add to the intensity of the emotion. "Diabolic mind paints gore, gives horrific death..." perfectly expressed. Well done!

Thanks Ms. Rita, I just give Medusa a voice after the tribulation she experienced.
Mark, should this be read as Tanka from the Japanese or English perspective? Also, it seems to deviate from most descriptions of this form. I could be wrong on that. What's your take on it?

I think it would help more random readers if you would consider including a note about the form and background material in the author notes; in the future, of course. I got the gist of it from reading the comments of the other reviewers. I have no opinion on this form so I'll just say that the words and construction seem appropriate.

I will take note your suggestion next poem I will do it. Thanks Sir.
makes us wonder what brought on this rage.

is there reason? unlike so much of the violence that goes on in the world today...much of it just so random.

intense short piece.
