New York Lovers

A Poem by Marc Marlon Villaflor

This perfect world of mine

The one that you treasure and adore

The place you discover and lost your universe

Love hearing your sweet voice when I flex my muscles

It is all joy, joy that in my heart will stay

This face that you will love forever

My time that you always wanted

I gave my all, all that I have.

I forget to love myself

I neglect the calls for change

I continue wondering, giving my best.

I forget to breathe for my soul

Then the moment has comes

I’ve lost you; I’ve lost myself and everything.

Lost, completely lost, could somebody help me?

I want you; I want you to be here badly.

Now I am searching for you

Those places we used to go

Only the shadows remain

As I am walking, walking in the pouring rain.

In every step, every breath, every glimpse.

You are there, you are my world

I wish the rain would turn into fire

So that my body will feel again your warm embrace

Your lips that kissed me torridly

Hear my plea, please come back to me.

I am crazy, I don’t care, I don’t mind.

It is a sin, but this is my life.

You are my life

The title brought me in and the story in the poem held me to the last word. Some people can make us love forever with a simple touch and whispered in the night. No weakness in the outstanding poetry.

What I notice here is the care with which it has been written, like the layout, the way
the verses have the same form, this has been written with care and style, and you notice it...fine job

This is honest, unadorned grief for lost love I will not criticise. Unless we are very lucky, we`ve all felt it. Thanks for sharing, Marc. P.

I think this will be one of my favorite writes from you... so beautiful and i think the flow of the words here runs smoothly like a river... that is so easy to read and follow the heart of the speaker... Ramance as its best!

Thanks Pax, thanks for your time reading my work. I really appreciate it Kabayan.
A beautiful story of love lost. I find the passion and longing in this piece very tangible indeed; I can relate. The searching for what once was...it can be maddening. The poem reads pretty well; there are a few places where some issues arise. You have some tense problems, for instance in the last stanza, first line "I wish the rain will turn into fire", it either needs to be "I wish the rain would...". If you want to use the present tense, choose another word, like "hope the rain will turn to fire". Littls things to polish up the mechanics, but the poem itself is very touching.
