Under the willow tree
Won't you come and sit with me? We'll watch the pale leaves fall And the good old days we'll recall. Although we've grown so old Our memories will abide forevermore: We'd chant and we'd roast We gave each other toasts For we were young and bright, No woes could dim our light. We toiled so hard Being true men at heart. Marching to our goal, Our labours we shan't boast. We loved and we loathed Our relish was to court. With eyes full of desire Kindling our souls on fire. We pledged our trust To loyalty robust. Our fellowship was myth Beyond death it still lives. We were true and bold As ancient knights of yore. Resolved justice prevails, On tyrants we'd crusade We dreamed of new worlds Where demons were no more. Visionaries we were Our ideals would not err. A miserable delight, Our lives were turbulent rides. Yet, dear, what is this life If with not a sting or a bite? And now withered and old, It's time we said goodbye to the world. Behold the legacy we render By which we'll be remembered. So let's watch the pale leaves fall And the good lad days we'll recall. Although we've grown so old Our memories will abide forevermore. © 2013 DeidreFeatured Review
