SETTING SUN SKIMS THE OCEAN

SETTING SUN SKIMS THE OCEAN

A Poem by Sonia Walker
"

Poetic description of setting sun along the shore.

"
Setting sun skims the ocean,
providing an orange motion,
a blazing and shimmering sky
with angel clouds floating by.

Fiery reflection a few feet from shore,
a dramatic image adds to the nautical lore
of sunset upstaging daylight's role,
overcoming it with its dusky sole.

Nearby a mighty rock formation stands tall,
it is the rugged sentry who refuses to fall,
scars of erosion thin its walls on occasion,
the stalwart soldier is not afraid of the abrasion.

An opening exists within the mighty fortress,
which leads to a secret cave of an aquatic soceress,
capturing the unsuspecting visitor of sort,
trying to escape the high tide of the deathly fort.

The placid evening scene changes on a whim,
what is a lovely sunset scene turns dark and dim,
evening shadows take over the sky above,
making the angel clouds disappear with a mighty shove.
