I AmA Poem by Manik JA short poem on my interpretation and observations of the human psyche. My smile disappears with quick agility, The same with which it came on. I am what you want me to be, Showing the side I choose, of me. A myriad of emotions all at once, expressive, yet withdrawn, These paths I roam, Of happiness and grief, becoming a tome. Some deem me a hypocrite, others a pleaser, Yet I have but a simple objective, To provide a shoulder, a hand to help, A place to let out your emotional yelps. To loosen your burden of grief or joy, I welcome all, no hidden ploy. My true self, however, from most I conceal, This, to only a few I choose to reveal. I am a shape-shifter, being what you need me to be, Always by your side, along with you for the ride. I am a thinker, next moment a doer, later still a joker, a light cloud in a grim world. O Reader! Brand me not a fake just yet, For I am but a reflection of thee, For I am but human, a masked being. Switching masks through all my days, Till one, I attain my weary eternal rest, all seeing.
