CHAPTER 3 - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

What was Peris's problem? Wasn't he just scared about Lucian almost biting me? Whatever, I don't care. Right now, I just need to get some help with my leg. Just as I thought of it again, I could feel the pain of the splinter digging into my leg. My face scrunched in reaction.

"Jesabelle, are you okay?" Daray apparently saw my expression.

"Does she look okay? She has a massive splinter penetrating her leg." Peris looked at me. As I looked into his eyes, I could swear I saw a red flash through them. A sign of thrist , or should I say hunger. Not wanting to stare into them further, I looked away.

"Behave you guys. Jesabelle , I'll fix up your leg once we get to Peris's house." Gerard explained. "Peris, since we have more people now, you take Jesabelle to your house and let her get changed."

"I have to take her too?!" I looked over at him in disgust. He turned towards me then quickly turned back. "Fine. . . I'll take her." He started towards the parking lot.

"You know, I really don't like him." Daray laughed at my comment.

"If only you knew." Gerard said quietly.

Jacobi and I helped each other get to the parking lot. With his blurry vision and me being a temporary cripple, it was difficult to get there, but we had a fun time trying.

When I finally got to Peris's car, I was limping badly.

Peris was leaning against his car. "Finally you get here." Ofcourse he would make a comment like that.

"Yeah, no thanks to you." I shot an evil glare right into his eyes. He only shrugged and stepped into his black Aston Martin Vanquish.

Just to my luck, I couldn't think of any way to get out of this, so I stepped into his car.

The inside of his car was amazing. The seats were black leather sewn together with red thread. The stereo consisted of the same design, black speakers with red rings.

"So I guess you've had a lot of girls at night in here, huh?"

He quiet for a while, then finally answered, "No. I have never had any girls in this car before you."

"Oh, so I can safely guess you're gay?" Haha, I'm enjoying this.

Peris turned his head towards me and looked me dead in the eyes. "No. I am not gay. I am in love with a girl that doesn't remember me."

"Oh, uh, I'm sorry, I didn't know." I should stop, he looks like he wants to kill me.

I stared down at my hands as he turned to look at the road again. It stayed silent up until he popped a CD into the stereo. Beethoven's Fifth Symphony soon filled the car.

"You like Beethoven?" I took a careful glance towards him.

"You'd be surprised. . ." He still had an attitude in his voice.

"I was trying to be nice. Don't kill me for it."

"That's it though!" He screamed, "You're trying! It's not sincere, you absolutely don't care. . ."

We sat in silence for a majority of the ride. Only sounds you could hear was Beethoven and Peris's occasional sighing.

* * * * * * *

I had never been this far out of town before. The sun's light sould vaguely be seen through the overhang that towered above us. The forest we had entered seemed to be a maze of trees. It would be very easy to get lost in here. . .

After a couple minutes of continued silence, I realized something.

"Wait a second, were you the one that AIMed me earlier?"

"Stupid, vampires don't have AIM." He said through his teeth.

"Well, before today. I thought vampires didn't have luxurious cars, cell phones, and spiked black and blonde hair. Who knows what else they could have?" I smirked.

"Who gives a s**t if I did or not?" His jaw was clenched tightly. "Maybe I did. Big freakin' whoop."

"It was one simple question, you don't have to get all PMS-y on me, sheesh."

"We're here. . ." He was pissed. "Follow me. . ."

I looked through the windows to see a steep hill that seemed to tower in comparison to the car. Jesus. . . He expects me to climb that? Not wanting to anger him though. I obeyed and tried my best to follow him. He seemed so graceful as he climbed it. While my body lurched forward trying to grab a hold of a branch or something. There were so many little pebbles just screaming at me to trip on them. They got what they wanted, I slipped often.

The air began coming in harder and harder for me, but Peris just kept climbing as if he wasn't breathing at all. Stupid vampire. . .

"You know," -huff huff-, " you should really think about getting some steps out here." I said taking a large painful breath into my lungs.

"But then it would make it easier for humans to get to my home." He laughed.

"Hello? Human here. I can't make it up this. I didn't know a hill existed like this in Ohio, it's so steep."

"Heh. Wimp." He laughed again only this time he waited for me to catch up. "There you are." He mocked as he picked me up.

"Whoa, put me down!"

"You would rather walk up about eight more football fields to my house?"

My eyes widened. "Take me away!" I said as he started running. I dug my head into his shoulder out of reflex.

Soon, the trees were nothing but streaks of green. I could no longer hear the crunch of the rocks and leaves under Peris's feet. I felt like I was flying. It was a spectacular feeling, but it ended all to soon.

Peris stopped in front of a large two-story hosue. My mouth dropped at it's beauty. Ivy ran up the beams in the front, the house was a perfect white, and the trees stopped about twenty-five yards away from the house.

"Do you care to stop gawking at my house and come inside?"

As I walked though the glass front doors, I began to "gawk once again. A long staircase adorned the foyer. I touched the handrails of the staircase and noticed that there were intricate details inscribed in it.

"Go upstairs and your room is the first on the left. Go in the chest and there should be some clothes in it." Peris explained roughly.

Following the stairway up reminded me of the steep ascent just to get here. It was like something was under it to make it be so steep. As I stepped off the last marble step, a long hall stood in front of me. First on the left. . .

I opened the door and found a large room with many luxurious items: a king size bed with a scarlet veil enclosing it, a beautiful oak dresser, and what had caught my eye the most was the white piano. It stood in front of a large window that looked out upon the snow-capped forest.

It was weird. I felt like I had seen this scene before. The thing was I couldn't recall the memory. Deja vu. . . Maybe I had seen it in my dreams. Because I knew no where in my life I could have ever seen a sight like this.

The front door had closed shut, which meant Gerard and Daray had made their way into the house. Which reminded me, I needed to change.

I ran my eyes across the room once again to find the chest Peris had spoken of before. Soon I found it hidden under part of the scarlet veil.

The chest had so much dust on it. It didn't seem like it should be in this room. Was Peris right about which room had the clothes? I opened the chest expecting to see mothballs and a half-eaten coat. Instead, as I opened it I saw a beautiful blue silk dress. My eyes widened at it. It really shouldn't have been in this peice of junk. I quickly slipped on the dress and headed downstairs.

"Jesabelle! We're here! Where are you?" Daray yelled from the foyer.

"Jesus Christ, Daray. I'm right here. No reason to yell." I chuckled as Daray shot her head up to where I stood. Her mouth dropped.

"Jesabelle, you look magnificant." Gerard followed Daray's stare. "Don't you agree, Peris?" He then turned his head towards a small hall that I had yet been through. There stood Peris with his arms crossed.

"Yeah, whatever." He didn't even look up at me. B*****d. . . "Will you tell us how you know Lucian yet?"

"Yes, yes, of course." He replied softly. Gerard obviously didn't want to explain this.

I ran down the stairs to join them. Luckily, Daray waited for me. We walked into the living room as did Gerard and Peris.

At the end of the hall opened up into a large, all-wooden living room. On the walls hung beautiful paintings that looked ancient, but I couldn't see who the artist was. Whoever it was though, was much better than Michealangelo, and I like his paintings.

Fields of flowers, snow scenes, and a couple of castle paintings went around the room. With every picture, came a different emotion. Some of happiness and joy, then some of depression and hatred.

"Jesabelle?" Gerard asked. I spun my body around making the dress fly and sparkle with the little light that still shone through the window. A storm must be coming. . . Spinning around made me realize a beautiful piano in the corner of the room.

"Peris, do you mind if I play a little piano before we hear about Lucian? I haven't played in so long." I asked.

Peris looked at me with a look of astonishment instead of the usual look of hatred he normally bore towards me. "Uh. Sure. It's probably out of tune though. No one's played it in two millenia."

I grazed my fingers across the piano's dusty exterior. It was absolutely beautiful and antique. Somewhere in the back of my mind, something had clicked. I had seen this piano somewhere before, and not a replica, this exact piano, but where could I have seen it? This piano was mine. It seemed to call to me.

Everyone's eyes were on me as I sat at the bench and began to play. Peris was right it is out of tune. . . My finger's danced up and down the keys. Soon they began to step heavier as my song played on.

The piano sounded as if it were in tune. As if I had fixed it by my playing. Soon I could hear the sound of women's heels and men's boots as the flew across a marble floor. Where am I? Peris's house was all wood other than his staircase. My fingers dwindled on the until you could no longer hear the notes that played.

"-belle? Jesabelle! Are you all right?" I heard Daray's voice in the distance.

"Ye. . . Yeah. . . I'm fine."

I'm really impressed at how much thought and imagination has gone into this.
So Peris is "in love with a girl who doesn't even remember me"....Hmmm, wonder who that could be? (Wink)
And when she says the pebbles were screaming at her to trip on them, that made me laugh, such good writing.
And it seems like her memories are starting to come back....It's all very intriguing and well-done, I can't say enough good things about it. Coolness!!
