Of the World

Of the World

A Poem by Mandy Rose

Both a blessing and a curse
a joyous occasion to be celebrated
and a hardship to endure.
There, the worst people are found
mixed alongside the very best
you can feel oppression's icy breath down your back
or be as free as the smell of clean air.
The fire of a spirit that knows
everything about nothing
and the rainy sit-by-your-window-and-contemplate-your-choices day.
First day, first kiss, first chance, last miss.
There, you meet the one
you hate, you love, or somewhere in between.
It gets better, or maybe not.
It sucks, but not always.
That's for you to find out.
So go.
Live.
