UntitledA Poem by Amanda PatrickWell she turned 16 months today I watch her grow with such happiness But, 16 months since you went away Leaves too much space for sadness
Though a mother’s love is strong Keeps the day full of new adventures Doing this without you feels so wrong Others notice, I’m no pretender
My first sight of her I knew She was sent to help me cope Three weeks before is when I lost you In her a place I would find hope
She sings, she dances and smiles so Photographs all cover the walls Memories you and I shared come and go I remember our smiles, then mine falls
This daughter of mine, so full of life Keeps me going with a purpose At times the bitterness, sharp as a
knife Guides me to reality: a compass
Finally I understand and see For us, reality is this Death of a grandmother made hearts bleed But the birth of my daughter brought
