the propagation of self delusional niceties prophesy their own self-fulfillment

good losers

 

we are taught to play fair

be gracious in triumph

self effacing in defeat

that it makes us winners

that makes us good losers

and if we believe it we practice it

and if we practice it we get good at it

and being good at it means we enjoy it

repeat it, promote it, teach it

to our young who learn it, believe it,

practice it, enjoy it, perfect it

and never have a chance

to know this single, basic truth:

‘good losers’ is an oxymoron
