Chapter 2

A Chapter by Manan

I woke up dizzy with a throbbing pain in my head.  I could hear loud noises in the background but it was too painful to open my eyes. Somehow slowly as I opened them I saw bars in front of me. After all they had done I was in a f*****g police station. I was the one behind bars. Rathore obviously had the police in his f*****g pocket.

I got up. There had to be a way out of this. Even if I could live in jail for the rest of my life I couldn’t let Aditi go back to living in that hellhole with her father. Aditi… No I had forgotten all about her. Where was she? What had happened to her? I looked around the station and suddenly saw my brother and mother sitting on a bench  worried sick.

“Ma, Aman” I called out to them.

As soon as they saw I was awake they came running towards me. As soon as they reached me my mother put a hand in between the bars and felt my wound and started crying uncontrollably. I gave her as much a hug as you can through a cell trying to calm her down but she wouldn’t stop. After she had calmed down and made sure I was okay they started asking me how what had happened.

“ I know you went there to meet her dad but you came back all depressed and had slept. The next morning you were gone. Why didn’t you tell me what was going on? I could’ve helped you. “Aman said

“ I’m sorry but there was no time and I was too messed up to talk to anyone. When I went to her house and met her father the moment he got to know why I was there the b*****d picked up a vase and smashed it over my head. When Aditi went to stop him he slapped her so hard that she fainted.” I said

“So what did you do after that?” my mother asked

“I knew there was nothing I could do right then. So head bleeding I ran out of there praying to god that Aditi would survive the night.” I said

“ So I guess you got patched up somewhere and came home and pretended to sleep. And as soon as we were asleep snuck out right?” aman asked angrily

“ I’m sorry I had to do that but I knew you would stop me and I didn’t have the energy to fight you then.” I said

“ What did you do then?”

“I went to her house climbed the fence and climbed up to her room somehow. I saw she was badly bruised her father had obviously beaten her after I left. So I woke her up packed up her things and left with her in my car. As we were leaving her father saw us and came after us in his car. We got away but the car crashed sideways into a truck. A piece of glass went inside her mouth and injured her tongue. She hasn’t been able to speak since. So somehow she bleeding and we both injured I took her to the place I had decided to hide ourselves in. It was a place deep in the woods which could be found only if u knew it was there. I guess they must’ve followed us” I finished

Suddenly I realised a woman was crying in the office next to my cell. There was so much noise there I didn’t notice it before. It was Aditi.

“ WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO HER YOU SICK B******S! IF YOU’VE LAID A FINGER ON HER I SWEAR TO GOD…”

Suddenly a tough looking officer came out of the office. I looked at him heading towards my cell and It struck me. Who knew something that I had learned in high school against bullies in my dorm would help me in this situation. I looked around my cell and saw a nail on the floor. I pocketed it.

“ You got a lot of nerve shouting in my station m**********r” The officer said as he pushed my brother and mother aside to open the door of my cell.

I got ready. It was now or never.

He opened the cell and came  in. As he reached me he swung his arm to strike me on the head.I was ready for it. I used his own force against him. As he swung his arm I applied more force on it in the same direction and made it go behind his back. When it did I twisted his hand upwards and with the other arm took out the nail out of my pocket and pointed it to his neck. He was 10 times as strong as me I suppose but there’s not much you can do with a twisted arm.

“ What the hell are you doing?” Aman shouted

“ ADITI. WHERE ARE YOU?” I shouted at the top of my lungs.

The station went dead quiet as everyone registered the scene in front of them. It was not everyday you saw a rogue officer being used for getaway. Almost every officer in the station pulled out their gun and pointed it at me.

“If you don’t show her to me I don’t have to tell you what I am going to do” A sudden calm had overtaken me as I said this. The kind you get by being in control.

Aditi came out of the office trembling with fear looking at me in shock. Her father behind her.

“ Don’t do this manan. Whatever you hope of doing wherever you hope of hiding we will catch you” An old inspector said as he came out of the office. Whoever he was he looked like a high ranking officer maybe the commissioner. Maybe Rathore knew the commissioner .

“SHUT UP. Aditi come with me now don’t be afraid we will be okay.” I said. Because of the wound in her mouth she couldn’t speak so she nodded with a look of determination on her face. The rogue officer in my grip struggled but my grip on his arm was too tight.

“Give Aditi  the keys to your car” I said to her father.

“Don’t do this you will never get away with it” Her father said.

“This wouldn’t have been happening if you would’ve listened to me the first time a*****e. Now shut up and give Aditi the keys. “

Aditi took the keys and headed out of the station to her father’s car. She got in the car and started it. And shifted to the passenger’s seat because I suppose she was too weak to drive it.

I tiptoed out of the station checking continuously that no one was behind me. As I got close enough to the car I pushed the officer away got into the car before anyone had the chance to shoot and drove away.
