the silver liningA Poem by mamewhit
the silver lining is polished,
sterling and stainless. blue eyes met in the back of your limo. high minded and thinking of finding that beautiful life. a whirlwind romance driving hard and fast. floating off our feet we drove to the beach. twice we said i do to “stand by me” in my grandmother’s dress. purple leather dresses and black leather belts. twice we danced all night revelling in the french quarter. stargazing a grand honeymoon on the rooftop sitting with peabody ducks. we made love in the back of the rolls royce and head to the coast. hit the highway across the great divide, landing in a city of angels. twenty five years later looking back, the silver lining is polished, sterling and stainless. a quarter centuries worth of champagne bubbles and stargazer lilies. countless times ups and downs, parties and frowns. created a trinity to the future. a trio of love, thrice set on the road. my wish tree hung with lusty loves adventures. a world travelled together side by side, searching for pleasures. we feed each other the apple of life from the gourmets table. looking forward to find our gold, i will meet you at that humble abode. time carries sweet memories we have shared with desire. the platinum ring, the band of gold all metals forged with hearts afire. you crown my head with a wreath made of silver. twenty five years later looking back, the silver lining is polished, sterling and stainless. © 2012 mamewhit
