a paper doll

a paper doll

A Poem by mamewhit

a paper doll needs a long black veil

the smell of your scents memory inside the chifferobe door

a paper doll cuts the line and makes me wale
i wish i had never seen you lying on that cold hard floor
slowly turning, turning a deep shade of blue
dreaming of a soul singer you had  your last pure thoughts
to have known and shared and cared with you
i measured all the lessons that you had taught
through my childlike eyes a dance of pretty is as pretty does
a paper doll is a fragile artful lasting invention of necessity
it hurts to be beautiful repeats in mature eyes like a  honey bee buzz
a paper doll’s long black veil falls from folded tabs with life’s brevity
a paper doll needs a long black veil
