Double Helix

perfunctory little tear
no beginning
no end

always knew, really
s**t happens
life gets in the way

rolling down cheek
to nowhere
salty, bitter

nothing ever changes
nothing ever stays the same
nothing

hurry up and wait
go nowhere fast
running to a standstill

just repeats
over
and over
and over again

perfunctory little tear.
