Exit The Frenzy

Exit The Frenzy

A Poem by Antoinette

Flashing lights, slow paced shadows

Blury buildings beneath a starless sky

So many people casually passing by

She rolls down the window to let in the night

Earlier events fade from her mind

Instead thoughts linger on the unknown

Creating stories for those waiting at the light

Are they friends? Lovers? Perhaps in a fight...

She thought her life alone consumed so much time

But the lives of millions of others combined

Each with a past, each with a future, creating life's riddle

Suddenly she feels so little

So much to imagine, it controls her thoughts

Observing so many people in a single evening

So many friends, mothers, brothers...

So rarely we take in others

the lone man crossing the street

The couple grabbing a bite to eat

The populations you will never meet...

Their lives escaping the minutes we stay busy

So much we could see, if we just exit the frenzy

Author's Note

Antoinette
I find I observe others a lot while driving through a foreign town, and every time I find observing others so interesting, the concept of each individual life is still mind blowing!

When we talked about this concept. I think this is hitting it dead on.
Love ya babe.
Nice touch with the rhyming.
It felt natural not forced.

So much to imagine, it controls her thoughts
Observing so many people in a single evening

once again I must give a small curtsy to the queen of expression. you really are good dear. I love the way you brought this to form and the way each line flowed gives me a clear image of what you saw as you wrote it. I am a people watcher too. you can learn a lot by being silent and observing actions of those who speak. it shows you who is real and who is not. and in this world that is a powerfull tool to have in your arsenal of survival.

excellent poem and very needed insight.

great job!
