Exit The FrenzyA Poem by AntoinetteFlashing lights, slow paced shadows Blury buildings beneath a starless sky So many people casually passing by She rolls down the window to let in the night
Earlier events fade from her mind Instead thoughts linger on the unknown Creating stories for those waiting at the light Are they friends? Lovers? Perhaps in a fight...
She thought her life alone consumed so much time But the lives of millions of others combined Each with a past, each with a future, creating life's riddle Suddenly she feels so little
So much to imagine, it controls her thoughts Observing so many people in a single evening So many friends, mothers, brothers... So rarely we take in others
the lone man crossing the street The couple grabbing a bite to eat The populations you will never meet... Their lives escaping the minutes we stay busy So much we could see, if we just exit the frenzy © 2009 AntoinetteAuthor's Note
