Catfish song

Catfish song

A Poem by Mel
"

Once a week I turn into a catfish

"

Once a week

I go swimming

Turn to catfish from woman and settle

In the muddy creek

Does it hurt my bones?

No, my body is cool in the water

And it only happens once a week.

Once a week,

I tip belly up and gaze

at the darkened world, blurry and far away

And amazed

Am I drowning?

Only if I laugh too hard or swim too fast

Plus, it’s only once a week.

At the bottom of the creek, you can’t find me

In the murk and when the moon is reflecting

Maybe see yourself, leaned over and squinting

But once a week, sometimes twice a week I’m hiding.

sometimes I feel like one of those bottom dwellers, but that is when I just want to disappear from view and lie quiet and away from life.
what better place as where the water is cool and murky enough that others cannot see me.
I will surface when I will.
God, I relate to this poem...it's a relatable song, for sure, Mel.
