She stared about, and saw his face wherever she walked;
she shut her ears, still heard his voice whenever she talked.
She fought his embrace, then arms, when no one was around;
inside she moaned, without uttering a sound.
She lost her sleep whenever her lids closed and slept,
because he was there whenever eyes slipped shut and dreamt.
She danced free of fears whenever rain fell and storm raged,
but sun's shine of glazed gaze froze her once again.
All her old haunts haunted by his lingering presence -
sites filled with pain, where once was innocent enjoyment.
Weighted down too heavily, her heart held more than it could bear;
she took to pen, and wrote a haven into nowhere.
Once embedded, she would not emerge from her new home -
so in her place, the seed of me, was sent, planted, and grown.
See now, I bloom - stronger - able to carry what she could not,
and will not bend to the burdens of her past lot.
