To Be Anywhere but Here - Desert Depth

To Be Anywhere but Here - Desert Depth

To be anywhere but here - such statement
harbors no more than a mere vapor
of some's sentiment's full intent.
Rugged expanse granular,
laments not breadth forlorn;
rather offering
a freedom torn
too oft from
daily
lives.
I
envy
distantly
infinite trail
in her possession.
Fading, vibrant arrays
of violets, blues, and grays -
tinted hues fusing horizon
standing backdrop another act of
intense, eloquent, silent countenance.

Why desire "to be anywhere but here"?
Overlook sharp, jagged pinnacles;
gaze beneath dried and coarse texture;
witness more than scraggly brush
extending thorn fingers
pleading the thirst of
inhabitants
residing
abode
harsh.
See,
instead,
earth's story
across landscape -
blatantly named:
"inspired formation of
uselessly scenic wasteland" -
as ignited bronze, flaming sands
conveying emotion's depth untold,
immersing you in its world yet unknown.

This was from a picture prompt, and I was supposed to work off the sentence (and incorporate it into my piece) 'To be anywhere but here"
