Echo

Echo

A Poem by maktub
"

Voices. Faces. Want to leave and never look back - take that step, that slice, that bullet and put them somewhere they can never return from - the end. Then there is nothing - nothing but an echo.

"

Echo, echo, is anyone down there?
Staring straight into the infinite abyss
of endlessly, aching black, colorlessness,
I thought "no...I'm all alone here."

Where has everyone gone to?
The masses have long since left me -
did they look deep inside and see
that I truly love very few?

I am that girl who's father
hurt her and left her stranded...
mama never noticed if daughter landed -
she was too busy to bother.

Echo, echo, is anyone down there?
No, they've gone, but I'm haunted...
Echoes louder and louder still whispered...
the voices quench loneliness with tears.

The voices, if they had faces...
See them reflected in droplets
fallen, fading into puddles heartless...
cheeks streaming with trailing traces.

I'll meet you, if you're one of them -
somewhere, far down there, listening...
you might faintly hear the glistening
trickles echoing with me towards the bottom.

About
Things happen for a reason, and regardless of what that reason is, those things are not always good, but nor are they always bad...and oftentimes the unanswered prayers are the greatest blessings, and.. more..
