Innocence, Sweet Innocence...Or Not?

Innocence, Sweet Innocence...Or Not?

A Poem by maktub
"

About losing your virginity to the wrong guy, at the wrong time. Mostly for female teens. Tried to write it in a more old fashioned, old english, style.

"

Lily, lily, flower of virtuous white –
A pure gift granted in the lives we live
- Gleaming as a beacon past murky night -
That thee may only once, choose to give.

Rose red - see blossoms bleeding through;
She attests a priceless treasure showered upon
- (Pending hov'ring dusk’s resignation to dawn anew) -
One, pray, who stands deserving of thy love.

Ah, but if that one should prove unworthy of thee…
That blushing innocent of whom thou wert,
Shall be naught but wilted blooms lost at sea –
Fallen adrift from the essence of thou that wert her.

An essence that – before unspoilt as peak’s spring water,
Or a diamond: genuine and simple, yet refined –
Rises stormy – where sun shone – now as monsoon weather,
Or stain’d glass to bubbles of imperfection resigned.

I despaired of thee, but despair is yet of yore;
When choices cannot change, and those wilted petals perished be –
The seeds still stay…nourish the life planted once more –
Thus, mistake’s that must remain, sow wisdom’s cherished seedlings.

Nevertheless, handle gently this fragile, re-birthed being;
Never fold or press with hands hard and rough.
Only shimmering fragments of crystal dancing
Inhabit her exterior seeming so whole and tough.

Speak softly, sweetly to the sensitive soul…
Whisper wafer words – morsels delicate, yet honest.
Revert not - none of the pretending or playing of roles
That betrayed thy heart; fed that debilitating distrust.

Cautiously touch the mere simmer of smoke across her skin -
Guide the purifying tendrils of wafting swirls.
Allow the subtle cleansing of that healing haziness
To penetrate and dissolve barriers protecting thy world.

Listen attentively to her every confided secret, trustful…
Silent secrets strewn – her’s are thine -  obvious, yet cryptic.
Open ears hear – hidden in plainness – the beautiful
Buried ‘neath an avalanche of painfully hinted specifics.

“I know her…” sayest thou – nay, thee of thine is unknown.
Which proves necessary comforting smile of affectionate reassurance
To re-establish that to thyself thou dost belong…
A renewed individual revived – although scarred – in confidence.

Nope, did not write it as something for myself - wrote it after having a conversation with a friend of mine, so...for her.

Things happen for a reason, and regardless of what that reason is, those things are not always good, but nor are they always bad...and oftentimes the unanswered prayers are the greatest blessings, and.. more..
