Doubt

Doubt

A Poem by maktub
"

Hmm....poem/prosish, sarcastic/ironic/something sharpish...read about Doubt.

"

Doubt is a descending mist-

clinging tendrils of cluelessness.
Sometimes, amounting to nothing

occupying that space called mind...

other times randomly chosen words

swirling 'round in an incoherent,

and listlessly chaotic whirlpool.

However, surely, we are beyond caring;

is not Doubt merely normal thought pattern,
only lacking the necessary sequence of logic?

Are we not already beyond the point

of being well acquainted with its presence?!

Thus, why should the familiar baffle?

After all, such is only in search of ‘knowledge’;

is this not intellectual and solid?

When planting the seeds of Doubt,

is this not the very instillation of freethinking?

Openmindness? Tolerance? Shall I continue?

I believe that it has such dependability,

such solidity as one who, who...
lures inexperience to probe quick-sand,

or betrays innocence, placing her

behind cold and heartless steel bars.

Is the sleeping foot numb and unaware?

Or the prickly awakening an annoyance?
Does Doubt surpass these?
Is it painfully disabling like the breath

of ice brushing your brain?
Oh, please, have no fear of Doubt;
it only rules the most grounded-
Here his roots are most deeply embedded.

The Sure rule the populace

and a Leader leads the led.
But Who, I ask, rules the Sure

and by What is the Leader led?

"Is the sleeping foot numb and unaware"

I enjoyed this line very much. To me it represents a foot that has fallen asleep, but that is still very much alive. Kind of like people in a routined life? Strange, but interesting writing.
