The Universe UnwindsA Poem by M. A. KilcorseThe deeper we probe our eye into space, the further back in time we view. How sad is it that the beauty of the cosmos is just a picture from long ago? How wonderful is it to imagine what's there now?A piece of silk, floating through the abyss Tickles my palms and kisses my fingertips. A strand of thought- A string of complexity, Bound within our known reality That stretches beyond the grasp of minds And travels further than space and time To find that place that no one knows And expose the mysteries of our souls. Dipped in dreams, Dripping with desire, Still we fly our rockets higher. And stretch our conscious through the cosmos Though the answer, we’ll never know. From our plane, we’re looking up, Past the canvas painted for us. Through the clouds and beyond the moon Where starlight twinkles like morning dew. And though these pictures that we hold, A mere ghost of images to be known, Revealing beauty beyond our scope And thrashing tremors that smash our hope. A realization that broke our sight To protect the secrets of the night. © 2013 M. A. KilcorseAuthor's Note

To see non-physical ideas take life in the form of places and people is the magic and mystery of creative writing. more..Writing
