Billowing Clouds of Smoke

Billowing Clouds of Smoke

A Poem by M. A. Kilcorse
"

How to stay calm when the world is ending.

"
Clouds; billowing.
Erupt from my body
And fills the air with a tempered haze.

Mind; receding.
All my troubles forgotten,
Clearing the path for an enlightened gaze.

Forgotten spiders,
Clung to rafters,
Fighting the force of a hurricane gale.

And, for a moment,
There is silence before the storm...

While all the world is sinking.
And, the temperature keeps rising,
While the ice caps keep melting,
And I start to get that feeling,
That humanity's time is fleeting.
So then my head starts spinning,
And I feel my heart start racing;
In my mind, I hear screaming,
And still I get that feeling
Yes I get THAT FEELING!

Calm; remain calm.
Deep breaths.
Inhale.
Exhale.

Billowing clouds of smoke.

I use writing not just as an escape, but as a construct. To see non-physical ideas take life in the form of places and people is the magic and mystery of creative writing. more..
