Burning

Burning

A Poem by free-writer

Smashed and crumpled,

Against a tree.

Red metal warped,

Folded and kinked.

Stumbling to exit,

Dazed.

Petrol can.

Frantic twisting,

Pull of the cap.

Petrol soaked jacket

Shoes, arms, hair.

Striking match, ignites,

Burning bright.

Fire.

Flames roaring orange,

Scorching treetops.

Wretched smoke,

Black and putrid.

Burning flesh,

Bubbling skin.

Blackened body,

Charcoaled face.

The smell.

Screaming and shrieking,

Pain.

A second passenger,

Nine.

Young and scared,

Standing alone.

Eyes wide, black,

Full of panic.

Watching from afar,

No way to help.

Frozen.

Looking over,

Unable to move.

Crying hatred,

Unforgivable actions.

Father and daughter,

Last words.
