Boardwalk Empire

Boardwalk Empire

A Poem by Scars and Souvenirs

Death lingers in the air

Faint screams

Water motionless

Now it’s quiet

Fear sweeps over

Taking over the body

You want to run but you can’t

Distant footsteps on the dock

They grow louder

The tickle of their breath on your neck

You realize that you’re calm

Your body tense

You wake up

Wishing you knew what happened next

Pretty good. Reminds me of my nightmares. Keep up the good work.

Before I got to the last line, I picked up the idea that it was a dream. (Well, a nightmare). The line:
"You want to run but you can't"
makes me recall dreams that I once had. I run in slow motion and can't get anywhere in time before I'm in deep trouble. It ticks me off when I wake up! It's natural for a human to be curious about what would have happened next, but as for me, I'm good not knowing haha.
Wonderful job, friendy.
