Anxiety Series

A Poem by Rae

I thought I saw your shadow today.
It was elsewhere.
Your shadow was a moth,
flying upwards past my city window.
Your shadow turned to face my discovery,
and looked down to see if I might be able to follow.

I stayed in my bed with a pencil.
I never stopped looking up,
but the shift of the sunlight
faded you into the sky.
Black, grey, and back to light.

This was beautifully bittersweet in its flow, as well as the imagery it provided. :)
Great writing, Rae.
I'll be looking out for your work more.
