The Appearance of a Disappearance

The Appearance of a Disappearance

A Poem by Rae

I could see your magician's hat
directly above your head,
a signal that came and went
in a nearby dimension of
truthful bodies.
Its density of velvet black
became more terrestrial with each flip
of my blackened calendar
until your eyes,
Houdini-like in their substance
dug something into my pores
that was not magic
but a Vegas level
vein bursting
disappearing act.
