Every Day Has Been a Cold Day

Every Day Has Been a Cold Day

A Poem by Karyn
"

Written about losing my hair during Chemotherapy for breast cancer.

"

1 When I woke up that morning

I knew what they’d say

Girl you got cancer

It don’t just go away

We’ll start medication

But there’s things you should know

Your hair will desert you

In fourteen days or so

Chorus:

Every day has been a cold day

Since my hair’s been gone

I remember in such a sweet way

Back to when it was long

How I wish I felt its soft touch

Round my neck and ears

But today

is just another cold day

2 At first, it was but thinning

And didn’t look to bad

I had buzzed my head in college

And never was sad

But the more the hairs were falling

It was suddenly clear

The clippers were a calling

And my bald head I feared

Chorus:

Every day has been a cold day

Since my hair’s been gone

I remember in such a sweet way

Back to when it was long

How I wish I felt its soft touch

Round my neck and ears

But today

is just another cold day

3 so the clippers are a cooling

the razor’s put away

I look like all the bald guys

That I use to date

I’ve got hats from many places

And scarves for my neck

But the days are getting colder

I can’t wait til it grows back

Chorus:

Every day has been a cold day

Since my hair’s been gone

I remember in such a sweet way

Back to when it was long

How I wish I felt its soft touch

Round my neck and ears

But today

is just another cold day

yeah today

is just another cold day

This is a country tune though I'm not really into country music. I was thinking I needed some way to vent my sadness over losing my hair but I wanted it to be funny and country just lends itself to that. Thanks for reading!

Very sad and actually perfect for a country song. It reminds me of the song by Willie Nelson that was titled You Were Always On My Mind. Personally I despise country music. I feel bad for you that you are losing your hair over the cancer treatment. They say the cure is often worse then the cancer. I can't imaging how scary it must be. I know that things will get better for you. Stay strong and positive.

In that context I think it would make for a lovely country song.
