should i get my hopes up

and dream about you like i used to

should i linger on to your every word

and bless the conversations we have

because for a change i don't feel alone

should i day dream about you

and what we can be

and treasure every moment i see you

 

 

or should i grin and bear it

and put up a fake smile

as i realise i will never have you

and help you along your way

as you chase your dream girl?

 

 

because right now i sit here

on this cold hard fence

pondering which side to jump to

the side of love, happiness and free will

were i jump at chance to see you

and learn to like you as i did before

with hope in my heart

 

 

or do i jump the other way  

because a good friend is what i am

and learn to get over you once again

as i hold you up

to climb that ladder

as my heart sinks

but like a proud saviour

i sit at the bottom and watch you rise to the top

to find true happiness and the girl of your dreams

 

 

but resevations i have before i take that jump

for half of me wants you

but the other half

can see how confused you make me feel

it jumps from high to low

from laughter to crying

and just dosen't want to be broken again

 

 

i can see how special that other girl is

and i guess i want to know

is it safe for me to take that jump

will you catch me

or will i fall?

 

 

because i would rather

have you as a friend

than nothing at all
