Childhood Dreams

Childhood Dreams

A Poem by Hannah Monttkomepy

She jumps, they smile

She twirls in her gown

Poses for a photo

I’m Aurora,”

She proclaims.

The camera loves her

A book atop her head

Her father kisses her head

Ride the rainbow,

Catch a star”

I’m Alice mom!’

She sings

Wandering through the

Trees and plants

Searching for the rabbit and its hole

Holding her mother’s hand

She’s led into imaginings

A mermaid greets her

They whirl in the sea

To the castle of sugarplums and ballerinas they go

She joins in on the dance

For the Queen on her throne

Curtsies and smiles

She whispers to the Queen

A magical servant takes her hand

As she says goodbye to her friends

And rides on the pink elephant through the sky

Through the rainbows and the stars

Dad!” she says as she awakes

She hands him the air

I brought back the star!”
