My heart is hooked

My heart is hooked

A Poem by Maggie Stromberg
"

A random collection of poems to let it all out

"

When we met,

I didn’t know I my heart on my sleeve,

but then before I knew it, it was yours.

You did nothing to ask for it,

and I didn’t mean to let it leave me,

But you possess it anyways.

I wish that when my heart fluttered when I talk to you,

It would fly away instead of being caught on you.

My heart is like Japanese clay pots…

Made by someone so ancient and old,

But I need to be loved and used often for my purpose

Or else I dry out and crack.

But if I am loved as I’m supposed to be,

I become like new and shiny.

I dropped the key to my heart,

And now you have it.

I can’t let other people into my heart

until I get it back from you,

But you’re lost to another’s heart.

So I sit here waiting…

wishing I wasn’t still looking for you.

The poet in me is screaming to come out

But the only way it can is through the hole in my heart that he’s left there.

I wish I could say you weren’t everything I was looking for,

But you’re in fact beyond that.

You aren’t perfect, but you’re perfect to me.

The thing I envy most about your girl is how you love her;

It’s the most beautiful thing in the world,

And it makes me so happy to see it that is kills some of the sadness too.

You call our love platonic,

But baby my love is catastrophic.

I want to let it all out,

But I am so full of doupt.
