PeachA Poem by MaggieOutward, outward, outward again to the map in your room and the false promises you made to yourself in a caffeine stupor of overspending and mania denial Then again in this space with an empty page and taunting curser flashing your defeat over and over again announcing so loudly in your head just how alone you are in your thoughts and body If ever you allow your buffer to wear thin Allow yourself to feel the icy wind blast up around your ears and echo to you how your dreams of difference from your youth were not different after all You are no more than them We are as they all were fillers between the births and deaths of millennia For a moment a tear wells in your eye as you see for a moment your existence from one hundred years away in either direction The feeling of falling inward completely I take a bite of my peach Juicy the salvation swells in my mouth and a drip falls from my lips In the moment I am reminded of my instinct to hurry the juice away I stop myself There is fear in the chaos of the run away juice But in my despair there is a strange strength to give in in the smallest way The peach follows the trail of my tear and drips off my chin to some part of the world that exists below it It was a beautiful moment of experience to let go to and allow myself to feel something move freely across my skin as it pleases Simply to enjoy the sensation If only for a moment Then another dry bite and I am back to the abyss of my world Healed yet again against the grain of reality for another hour Another day, another lifetime to fly by and another experience to forget But for a moment I was real © 2015 Maggie |
