Trust Me

Trust Me

A Poem by And She Sings
"

I just don't know if I think people can like me.

"
My security and stability

are illusions of what they

look to be.

I am a doll whose seams are unwinding

like the clock turns, timing the seconds

I count until I hear from her again.

It hurts to lean on her words

and they cannot hold me when they

are not there.

They say that they will last

the longest, so why don't

I believe them?

I break at the edges and I

curl up as I reach for the fire that burns

in my mind.

These sacred letters do not mean

nothing, yet they make me feel

empty still.
