DementiaA Poem by magenta24uklocked inside your own mindWhere have you gone? Are you still there? Sitting silently in a high backed chair. Do you remember who I am? Do you still even give a damn? Am I a ghost to you as I sit and natter? A noise you ignore like an irritating chatter? You’re not gone, but I start to think. You might be forgotten, as you slowly sink. You look my way and I smile wide, But nothing seems to stir inside. Come back to me and hold my hand. Help me to finally understand. I will not leave you, I will not go. Come back and show me that you know. Let me see the light of recognition shine. When I grasp your finger tips with mine. Look into my eyes and say my name. And finally things will be the same. Hold on to me, I will see us through. You may not know me but I still know you. © 2014 magenta24uk |
