My Obi-Wan

My Obi-Wan

A Poem by Rosilani Murdoch
"

This is a companion piece to my poem “Not His Daughter”

"

this poem is a companion piece to the one i did about dad “Not His Daughter”

strong

is the force between us

the binding

that pulls us together

our fates intertwined

forevermore

my life would have

changed direction

had i not

my obi-wan

i could have (should have) gone darth leah

you changed that

you course corrected my life

my jedi master

you presented

me

the life tools

my lightsaber

to stand a fighting chance in this world

now i can survive

not just

but live

you guide me in

the ways of the jedi

believe in me more

than i ever will

i am pushed to

things of which i have doubts

but

every

time

i succeed

rise to the occasion

and you smile like

you knew i would all along

when i need a swift kick in the butt

a reminder

the price of freedom is responsibility

“You have made a commitment to the Jedi order, a commitment not easily broken.”

you shield and protect

me from threats

the empire

“These aren't the droids you're looking for.”

and they move on

i am safe again

when i need you

obi-wan

when i reach out for you

even in the dark

you’re there

thank you.

may the force be with you, obi-wan.
