Shades

I wrote this poem last year while I was going through a very hard time in my life...

All the chaos to my head

Pull the trigger; at rest I’m dead

Descend into my deep disgrace

Fading memories of that place

Through the skin that I bled

Canvases painted black and red

Seize embrace & veil the face

Falling away without a trace

With the life that I've lead,

It’s hanging on by a thread

Stitched together and sewn to lace

Mending the broken will not efface

Your despair shows through. I really connected with the core idea that some things seem unbearable. They leave us scarred and wandering with barely thread to hold onto. Beautifully sad.

a good start to ending the writer's block...posting this heavy piece and getting reaction to it...
often the reactions will spur more poems...something like putting a gun to the muse's head and saying, "start working for me again or we are going to play russian roulette"

sometimes we feel we are falling away...like Emily D's poem..."a plank in reason broke, and i dropped down and down, and hit a world with every plunge, and finished knowing then."

Hi Maeve, This poem is very powerful and I believe that anyone who has experienced deep pain can really resonate with your words. I am definitely not a connoisseur of poetry, as I don't write it myself, however I found myself reading this over and over. I particularly like the first verse.

It`s very hard to move on especially when we`re dealing with some un-expected time but I think, with the time, all things go cool down. Nice imagery!
