Like a Chemical.

Like a Chemical.

A Poem by Mae Bee

hope i never ever see summer again.
summer had me naked
and slinky with the sweat of my nerves.
collecting like bad ideas by on the small of my back.
your hands on the murder weapon
and it's my own blood painting the
guilty shade of red.
i can't commit to the
idea of living happily ever after after.
i had the zipper shut on the body bag before you
even stopped searching for a pulse.
it's not that i was hoping to bury you
down with the deep southern blues...
i just knew i had
a limited time to say goodbye
without a second glance.

but you don't know what Far Rockaway
screams to a girl like me.
Her waves like a tutu around my waist-
spin spin spin
me
until
i
sink sink sink.
give me ophelia.
make it burn-
like like honor.

there is a boy i've chosen to
see if i can extract
all the excess.
so far all he does
is drown me.
[nothing about him, this, or that
is even close to surprising.]
