Tears

Tears

A Poem by That One Person

i watched a corner of his mouth

curve downwards like a twisted

slide into the world’s deepest, darkest pit.

i knew what he was doing,

trying to hold back the

crazy rebellious tears.

i knew- because i was doing it too.

we separated with meaningless

goodbyes and emotionless

hugs, and we never, ever

let those stupid idiot tears escape.

days passed but they felt like

centuries, millennia

we were in new different places

with new different lives.

when we were too far away

to feel the comfort of each other

the sad little tears finally

leaked out, unbidden, unwanted.

but it was too late

for any of those

terrible painful tears

to actually matter.

Author's Note

That One Person
ok this is my first time writing a poem and consciously trying to not use repetition... Feedback is much appreciated, spelling may be questionable (is millennia spelled correctly? hmmm...) If it's harsh critique? No problem. Hit me with your best shot :)
