Rambler

Rambler

A Poem by Michael Wright

Rambling is in my blood.

Never growing roots.

The need for the new.

Exploring each new place.

See all that can be seen.

I have never known that “good” place...

A place for my heart to rest;

I can rest my head anywhere,

never having a place to rest my heart.

I have roamed all over,

never finding true rest.

I have grown tired;

these travels and moves,

take far too much from me.

I seek a place with love,

along fine woman to adore.

I search and still nothing yet...

My soul cannot rest,

I cannot find real peace.

I am forever rambling

Lord I was born a ramblin' man,
Tryin' to make a livin' and doin' the best I can...

The curse of the gypsy heart, I see. I relate to it in an inverted way. I feel trapped in one place. How about we trade? :)

I like it. Reads well, no spelling errors to be seen, and I can relate to it(in my head at least). Stuck the landing, 8/8.

Michael, I give you high marks for honesty, sometimes it's hard to admit that as a rolling stone you have not found any moss. I've been through stretches in my life when I was adrift, floating in the sea of lost souls aimlessly, searching for some calm water in which to drop anchor. After one of those periods I quite accidentally met the person who changed my life for the better, in so many ways. I can give you all the high marks in the world, Michael, but what I give you most is my wish that your anchor will be dropped into home waters, and soon. Good Luck, sir! take care...dan

Such a sad piece, this one. Confuser is right; the way this poem is written and the fact that you didn't use any punctuation marks made the poem feel rushed, like how a person speaks inside their head; their thoughts overlapping one another in constant thought.

Michael: I enjoyed it very much; your words are sincere, and I love the line: Never having a place to rest my heart...I also could see the hurried pace, like in your words, carefully displayed. The poem rushed me through, just like the Rambler, never stopping to find his place, a woman, a family, No roots, his true hearts desire. The poem's visual is an unhappy person, never stopping too busy to enjoy life, slow down long enough to find his heart's desire; unfortunately, the metaphor is all too true in the world. Thank you. Keep writing. It's very good: Dale
