Carpe NoctemA Poem by Michael WrightIn darkness, I come alive All my fears escape my mind Within the glow on the moon Skin glows highlighting the dark shape Muscles surge as the strength returns The crisp, cool air enters clear nasal passages The once listless body has risen Nothing can touch me in the dark For I am free to do as I wish Walking among the lost souls As if an invisible power protects Seeing deep into their empty void Laughter is interrupted by emotions of pity Tides of the moon sped time quickly With little motion, they have all but stopped Exposing their souls, naked and ashamed Reaching out almost touching their sins The river of people slows and thins Late is the hour as they run to slumber As the dark loses the battle to light I slowly return to the shadows No more can be taken for the past night © 2016 Michael WrightAuthor's Note
