Chapter Two

Wesley liked hanging out in his room on Saturdays. He liked the quiet of when he was by himself. It gave him time to think about anything. At the moment he was sitting at his laptop looking up information for a report due next Thursday.
Some of his brown hair fell into his eyes. He jerked his head to one side to move it. Wesley made a mental note to tell his mom he would need a haircut soon. Wesley was an average teenage boy. He had brown hair and dark blue eyes. He had a more rounded face. Wesley wasn’t fat but he wasn’t fit either. His mother was a surgeon and doctor. She was hoping her son would take the same path. Wesley thought he would too but soon found computers more interesting then looking at someone’s insides. At school people started to call him a computer nerd.
Wesley let out a deep sigh. He was getting tired of trying to find some dead guy’s birthplace. He stood up, pocketed his cell phone and went downstairs.
Downstairs, Wesley found his sister watching TV. He was about to sit down when the doorbell rang. He went to go answer it.
Wesley opened the door, expecting to see one of his friends, wanting help with homework. But, instead, Wesley was stunned at what he saw. It wasn’t his friend. But some girl hunched over trying to catch her breath, like she had just ran a mile.
    “Uh…” Wesley started.
Sami looked up when she heard him. She smiled. “Wesley?”
“Yeah, that’s me.” Wesley said hesitantly.
“Okay, time to go.” Sami grabbed him by the wrist and pulled him out of his house.
“Hey! Wait! What are y -” Wesley stopped mid-sentence when he saw what the girl had pulled out.
Sami had pulled out a black 45. Mil. Pistol. She had it pointed right at Wesley’s forehead. “You come with me or you die.”  Sami said, with complete seriousness.
Wesley couldn’t answer. He just stared at the gun. Finally he nodded.
She lowered the gun and smiled. “Good, time to go.”
Wesley lived just north of Sami’s house, fortunately. She only had to lead him past a couple blocks and they would be safe. The only thing going through Wesley Adams head was: I was just kidnapped by a girl in my front yard! I’m stronger then this…but she has a gun…
Wesley thought and thought. Trying to think of a way he could get the gun out of the girl’s possession. The only thing Sami was thinking of was ways to get Wesley to her apartment before the hitman caught up with them.
Sami stopped at a corner to catch her breath. But she kept a firm grip on Wesley’s wrist. Sami had to think quickly. She looked around her. Mostly business buildings were around them.
The hitman was already in position near Wesley’s house. But Sami saw him as she was doing a recon, checking out the place. The hitman was on top of a roof just two blocks from Wesley’s house. He had a clear few of his room and would have sniped him then if Wesley didn’t decide to go downstairs. That’s when Sami went into action. The hitman saw her coming and didn’t even wait to find out who it was or what she doing. He tried to shoot her. Thankfully, the first shot missed her. That’s when she decided to run. She found Wesley and was trying to get out before the hitman found them.
He’s probably in a car by now…Sami thought.
She looked at Wesley who was having a harder time catching his breath. He looked back at her with a confused face. But before he could say anything she started to run again.
Sami saw the perfect place to lie low. Just until she thought the hitman wasn’t looking for them in this direction. A parking garage. Pretty much empty this late in the day. Most people had gone home already.
Sami lead Wesley into the parking garage and looked around.
“A car park? What are we doing here? You hide your car here or something?” Wesley asked.
    “Ssh!” Was all Sami said.
She waited a few more seconds and then went up the ramp to the next level. There were a few cars still in their parking places. Sami hid behind the car closest to the ramp they had just come up. She also had a clear view of the elevator at one end of the parking level.
Wesley was about to start asking questions when he heard tires squealing. He didn’t know what was going on but for some reason he knew he needed to be quiet. Sami cursed under her breath and listened. The car stopped just below the ramp to the next level. They both heard a car door open and close, then footsteps.
Sami was very confused. Why would the hitman get out of the car? How did he know that they would hide in a parking garage?
Wesley saw Sami pull out her pistol and c**k it. She watched the ramp intently. Wesley peered from behind the car. They both watched as the person who was making the footsteps appear.
He was wearing all black. His hair was even black. He had broad shoulders and looked very well built. Sami didn’t waste any time. She stood up quickly and started to shoot.
The hitman pulled out his own gun and started to shoot back. But at the same time he ran back down the ramp safe from Sami‘s line of fire. Sami ducked back behind the car. Sami took a clip from her back pocket and inserted it into the gun. She cocked it back and looked at Wesley, who seemed very scared at the moment.
“Stay right here.” She said and then ran off towards the ramp.
Ryland was mad now. Through a sniping lens you can’t really tell, but now up close he could definitely see it was a girl. Ryland was not going to get beaten by a girl. Of course, he always finished his jobs. That’s why he’s the top hitman in all of England. He was going to take out Wesley Adams one way or another.
He had his back up against his car and was about to go back up the ramp. He slid a full clip into his side arm. Ryland looked up just in time to see the girl kick him. He would have fallen to the ground but his car stopped him. Ryland was now furious.
Sami didn’t give any time for the hitman to recover. His stomach was open so she went to punch him. But the hitman caught her fist right before it hit him. He spat out a pool of blood still keeping a firm grip on the girl’s fist. He twisted her arm forcing her body to twist also. Now the hitman had Sami pinned with one hand behind her.
Ryland pushed the arm up farther. Sami clenched her teeth in pain. He got close to her ear from behind.
“So, who paying you, hm?” He asked.
Through clenched teeth she replied, “Like I would tell you.”
“Oh, come on. You really think you can protect Wesley from me? So far, I’ve eliminated every ‘Protector’ that was assigned to one of my hits.”
Sami rolled her eyes. “Yeah? Well, so far, I’ve eliminated every hitman who was bothering me.”
    “Am I bothering you?”
“As a matter of fact; yes!” Sami jerked her head back and hit him in the face.
Ryland stumbled back from the force and lost his grip on the girl’s arm. Sami quickly kicked him in the stomach. The hitman stumbled back again but quickly regain balance. Ryland drew out his pistol and pointed it at the girl. But she had her own gun pulled out.
They both stood face to face, gun to gun. No one moved or spoke. Then Sami noticed something. But it couldn’t be. Sami stared at the man in front of her. His face was expressionless. He looked just like…
    “Dad?” Sami asked.
