The kite flyers

A Chapter by jajabor
"

The kite flying festival was getting closer and debu and his friends were practicing hard to beat their old enemy Santosh

"
"Debu! Come down at once, your father will be home soon!",shouted debu's mother. Debu,Santu and Manoj were up on the terrace flying kites, adjusting it inbetween the antennas fearing that if it gets hurled up and the antenna gets realigned, he would miss his favourite Doordashan show, as the antenna was adjusted accordingly by his father.
Every Bengali is a born electrician and a plumber, skills passed on through generations after generations, learning the art not only saves money but also helps to boast oneself that such petty issues doesn't need trained hands it just needs guys with brains!
Debu's father was not so different either, his attempts to repair electric goods has often served him with success but the primary objective of it got lost. Once he applied his hands in repairing his old toaster, which was serving him good except its indicator was giving him trouble, the indicator didn't change from red to green when it got hot.
He repaired its fault quite well but the toaster failed in its primary objective, its heating coils have stopped working!

Debu was born in a joint family, always surrounded by people who lectured him on what was right and what was wrong, his own cousins also never left a chance.
But Debu over the years had mastered the art of bringing voluntary deafness whenever any self made philosophy was thrown at him. He rather chose to keep himself close to his two most confided persons in the whole family, Harish and Ramesh, the two servant, serving the family for over ten years, protecting Debu from punishments for his mischiefs.

Debu, Santu and Manoj were flying kites as the kite flying festival was getting closer.
Last time Debu single handedly defeated his neighbour's kids but unfortunately lost to Santosh, the Kid living across the road, Debu's old enemy, his best counterpart.

"Come down at once!", his mother shouted again.
"Give me just two minutes!", replied Debu.
He has been asking two mins for last one hour. Mrs Biswas finally losing her temper rushes out in anger and climbs up to the terrace to find his son still flying his kite.Santu and Manoj seeing his mother coming , very gently and slowly bid's adieu to prevent themselves from any collateral damages.
Debu freaks out finding his mother standing behind him and trying to grab him, he immediately climbs on the tank' s roof like a monkey where his mother can't reach him. But Mrs Biswas was not ready to let go.
"Don't make me angry Debu!, else ill close the terrace door and lock you up for the whole night and no one will come to save you!",screamed Mrs Biswas.
But Debu knew all this false alarms, didn't step down. But unfortunately the alarm was true, Mrs Biswas did close the terrace door and locked it!
Hell broke loose on Debu's head! What was he supposed to do? One whole night on the terrace! The mosquitoes will feast upon him! And what will happen if his friends came to know, will anyone respect him. Tormented by these thoughts he sat down for a while. Suddenly a superb idea flashed in his head, an escape plan got chalked out by his grey cells!
