Until Next Time Anxiety.

Poem in which someone experiences an anxiety attack. DISCLAIMER* Not claiming to be an amazing writer, I'm always looking to improve. I just love to write and want to get some feedback.

Its just one simple thing that can change everything,

You can go from laughing alongside people to fearing that they are laughing at you,

Dancing around in a mosh pit, to fearing that they are suffocating you.

And then the panic hits you.

Its like your heart is pumping out of your chest.

You’re so vulnerable as you fall to the floor

unable to hold your yourself up,

Grasping, yanking, scratching,

on the floor hoping for stability,

but you find none as your breath quickens.

The world seems to spin faster as you shake,

and the eyes staring at you don’t help,

as you try and stutter your words out for them to leave.

People are screaming at you,

asking whats happening,

but you cant hear them over the horrible thoughts running through your head.

The voices won’t stop and the world keeps spinning,

now lying on your back you try to hold your breath,

praying for it to stop.

And it does.

Just as quickly as it started it stops.

Now shivering and embarrassed,

you stand up and explain the panic attack,

and move on.

Like its part of your daily routine,

Your ‘accustomed’ to it.

Until the next time Anxiety.

OK, let's start with your disclaimer on every poem in two places: STOP!!! We're all in the same boat, so you can stop spewing your insecurities. We're here to support each other as writers.

This poem is the best description of an anxiety attack I've ever read. I have mild anxiety, but never a full-blown attack that's left me unable to function. So it's good to find out what this feels like, becuz it helps doubtful people understand how real this is to a person suffering from it. The strongest aspect of your poem is being specific, using details that paint YOUR LIFE, so we can see this happening to YOU. The more detailed & specific, the more powerful writing is. Good job!
