Meditation

Meditation

A Poem by Maddie Reiss

When I do nothing

I can do anything, if I only

Seal off the senses.

Heavy eyelids

Palms skyward

Silencing my fingertips.

Hear only my internal mechanisms

convert air into energy.

Shrinking down

I become atomic

To see myself in three dimensions.

I can swim inside my vessels

Diffuse through every cell

Bridge every synapse

And rectify tangled neurons

Without chemical intervention.

Draining toxins

With every cleansing breath

Until my blood runs in colors

Until my heart pumps in sync

With the movement of the earth.
