I inhale and exhale,
Each surge of air
Refreshing and seductive.
My eyes are closed, how I like it.
Where am I? Only others can really tell,
But don't spoil it, please.
I am in a forest, in the arms of the night.
I sit on cool dirt, its earthy musk mesmerizing,
Filling my nostrils with its spell.
Around me, strong oak trees stand.
Their treetops decorate the night sky with
intertwining branches,
Crisp leaves fall delicately to wrap my
shoulders and back.
The million stars laugh and wink, transfixing me
more with their
Swift dances.
I rise from my pose, and climb up the smooth
branches
Of a nearby tree, invited.
With each foot I ascend, I become more
weightless.
Now, almost floating, I am among the last.
I peer up into the vast universe, lost in its
eyes.
I fly up past the branches, and am
embraced
By the silky night air. The wind flutters around
me,
Plays with my hair and eyelashes.
The stars teach me their dance.
This infatuation won't last forever,
though,
For I must now open my eyes.
