The Beauty of Twenty-One PilotsA Story by Madeline
Most people will view the band Twenty One Pilots as one or two things: a trend or an angst-y band for teenagers. With spiked hair, tattoo's, and torn up jeans, at first glance those assumptions wouldn't be too far off. Anybody who has followed the band for their past three albums would beg to differ.
Twenty Pilots consists of members Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun. The band was formed in 2009 while Joseph was attending college in Ohio. Since then, the band has released three albums, all receiving generally favorable reviews, especially their most recent album, Blurryface. One thing that separates Twenty Pilots music from many popular bands is the quality and content of their lyrics. Though the band does not consider themselves to be a "Christian" band, many of their songs such as Goner, Addict With A Pen, and A Car A Torch and A Death, all have obvious religious themes within them. Not only that, many of their songs deal with themes such as family, death, and relationships. When asked about his lyrical content, Joseph simply stated that he "wanted his music to make people think", leaving more to the listeners imagination. In an age full of music being produced for solely mass streaming, rather than quality, Twenty One Pilots stand out above all others, leaving listeners excited for future albums. © 2015 Madeline |
