Living on a HopeA Poem by Madison E O'HaraHope, dreams and realityLiving on a
Hope There are dreams we all have. Ones
we cling to without reason. Ones that fill our subconscious, that we hold onto
even knowing they’re far-fetched and not going to happen. I think we hold on to these
unrealistic ideals because we can see the exceptions. The ones who against all
odds and reason, made it and got their dream. And this gives the everyday
people unprecedented hope. And people run on hope. It fuels their every thought
and every action " because you begin to believe you could be bigger than just
yourself, than just 1 in 7 billion. I live on hope. Hope that the future
will bring happiness. To be fulfilled, to feel bigger than a single grain of
sand in the ocean. To feel like you matter in the world, even if it means only
being so to one person. But I’m scared. I know the odds. I
know I probably wont be the exception, so I don’t try to be. But now I’m not
happy. I feel like a part of me has been shut off, that I’m broken and lacking.
So I want hope, enough to stop being scared. But I’m too cautious. Too broken.
Too stuck. © 2016 Madison E O'HaraReviews
