treeA Story by LilMa girl and her tree It's branches twisted around one other. Leaves never grew on its dead twigs that hung on it. Yet it was her favorite place, spending the day out there in its twisted arms. Sitting there with her sketch book in her lap and a pencil in her hand moving quickly across the paper. She scribbled the image of the one flower the tree had. Its breath taking colors, the way the petals fell, the bright yellow center. The brilliant picture of the flower captured everything, weather you saw the flower or the picture you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. She had been up there sense school let out at 3:00. It was easy to get home quickly sense she lived right across the street from the school. She had sometimes rushed home just to be able to feel safe. Today was one of those day. All day she would suffer through the bulling, the comments, the no one talking to her, sitting alone at the lunch table. People pointing and laughing, whispering about her. The tree made her feel safe, the branches protecting her from the cruel world. Her mom never liked her in that tree. She always thought it would break while she was in there. So to make her mom happy she said she would stop going in it. But she never stopped, she would just get out before her mom got home. She understood why her mom worried though. The branch she would sit on was the same branch that she sat on 4 years ago.Old and worn out she still loved that tree. Her own little place where she could be alone and feel safe. She had sketch books filled with pictures of the tree. Up there in that tree today she was happier than ever because this was the first day the flower had opened. As she finished her drawing she closed her sketch book and slid forward. The closer she got the worse the crack in the branch got. Then all of a sudden the branch snapped. The pain came quick and sharp as she hit the ground. The last thing she saw was the flower on the branch above the one she was sitting on before she blacked out. She awoke to her mother standing above her. Her mother let out a sigh of relief as her daughters eyes opened. A bunch of question fallowed after. She couldn't move her leg she was sure it was broken. Her sketch book lay on the ground with a couple of twigs on it. She looked at her mother and said she was sorry through sops. Her mother helped her up and gave her a hug and said it was okay. She picked up her sketch book and her mother helped her in to the car to go to the Doctor to get her leg checked out. As they drove away the girl looked back at the tree with it's broken branch and a single flower and just smiled.
