Chapter 18

We walked the coastline. 4 miles. It was such a nice day after we got there. That night, my shoulder felt a bit better, but as I slept through the night, it hurt. Aching pains rushed through my body. I got up to get a pill. My medicine. "What are you doing?" Sadie asked slowly as she got up. "Oh, my shoulder. I am taking medicine." I said. "Go back to bed."

Sunday morning we went to the diner in the hotel. This was no diner, it was a fancy diner. It had decorations of vines wrapped around white fences. It was beautiful. You might say it looked Italian from what I am telling, but it looked like a garden. We sat down at a table for 4. One empty seat mocked us. Sadie ordered french toast, Jill ordered waffles with bacon, and I got a bacon egg and cheese sandwich. Delicious. We all sat and ate, but nobody expected, that I was still in pain, from the big cut I made while in the hospital, reading my Mom's letter.
